Chocolate Strawberry Casein Mousse

Personally, I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. What I do have a habit of is ending up 30 grams short on protein at the end of the day with a couple hundred calories left to spare, and no appetite for any ‘real’ food. Quick treats like this can come in handy for that.

I recently ordered some casein that was absolutely unbearable. I tried many different experiments to hide the flavor, and I did have some luck with pb2. This chocolate mousse concoction is a little more special and doesn’t take much extra time.

If you have a protein powder that already tastes great, you can leave out the cocoa powder.

If you are just trying to grab a quick protein snack in 30 seconds or less (and you need to save yourself an extra hundred calories), you can also just whip the casein with a bit of milk or water until it forms a pudding. Simple and effective.

Whey can work for this as well – it just won’t be as thick/mousse-like.

Casein is a slower digesting protein, making it an ideal choice for before bed.

Bedtime also seems to be when those with a sweet tooth start roaming the kitchen for ice cream and treats. This has just enough good stuff in it to hold your interest while making it easier to hit your protein and calorie goals.
